The Young Leaders Program (YLP) is an academic scholarship program funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. It aims to prepare young professionals from different countries for future leadership roles in their respective fields by enabling them to pursue graduate level study in select Japanese universities.
The objectives of the Young Leaders Program are to:
1. Foster future national leaders in the countries of Asia and other regions
2. Create comprehensive human networks among the leaders of nations
3. Establish friendly relationships among the countries involved, including Japan
4. Improve the quality of policy planning in the participating countries
YLP applicants can choose to major in any of the following areas of study: (1) Business Administration, (2) Law, (3) School of Government - Public Administration, and (4) Local Governance. The one-year duration of this program is set to commence in October 2019 and classes will be conducted primarily in English. A master's degree will also be conferred to participants upon successful completion of the program.
