Commonwealth Medical Fellowships 2020 - Application for Commonwealth Medical Fellowships 2020 is now opened.
Established in 1959, commonwealth scholarship and fellowship plan is one of the most famous and world`s largest funding plan which provides prestigious scholarship plans in the world. 35,000 individuals have held a Commonwealth Scholarship or Fellowship - 27,500 of them were funded by the UK government, through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC). The CSC awards around 750 scholarships and fellowships for postgraduate study and professional development to Commonwealth citizens each year.
Funded by the UK department of international development, commonwealth medical fellowships are offered to mid-career medical staff from low income countries in order to develop their practical and clinical skills. Six themes that cover the plan of commonwealth scholarships include:

3. Promoting global prosperity
4. Strengthening global peace, security and governance
5. Strengthening resilience and response to crises
6. Access, inclusion and opportunity
In order to get eligible for the commonwealth medical fellowship you must fulfill following criteria:
You must be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country , or be a British Protected Person.
You should permanently be the resident in an eligible Commonwealth country eligible Commonwealth country.
You must have an academic appointment in an eligible Commonwealth country at one of the medical schools by the World Directory of Medical Schools, employed by a hospital affiliated to the Medical School where you have the academic appointment.
You must have qualified as doctor before 1 October 2005.
You have to be available to start your fellowship in the UK between October-December 2020.
Applying for commonwealth medical fellowship you must have qualified at a medical school recognized by the World Directory of Medical Schools.
You have met the English language requirements of the General Medical Council (GMC) by August 2020.
You must have verified your primary medical qualification independently by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for General Medical Council (GMC) registration by 31 August 2020.
Your award is undertaken at an approved UK university hospital.
Csc aims to select individuals with great interest and capabilities without any discrimination in order to provide equal opportunity to all candidates on the basis of their skills. The candidates are expected to practice clinically during their fellowship and for this purpose they have to register themselves with the General Medical Council. If the programme proposed by the candidate don`t require registration, the candidature for the fellowship would not be considered and the person would be ineligible for the fellowship.

The selection criteria of the candidate includes academic position, quality of the proposal given by the candidate and the proposal must be of almost 200 words. The professional and development contribution of candidate to his home country would also be checked.
Applications for the fellowship must be submitted online and endorsed the Dean of Medical institutions. Applications other than online would not be accepted by CSC.
Deadline for applications for the year 2020
is 06 April, 2020 and supporting documents must reach by
27 April 2020 in order to consider your application for selection procedure. The supporting documents must include proof of nationality of a refugee state, valid passport copy, medical certification of primary medical degree, certificate from head of teaching hospital and endorsement of Dean of Medical school confirming your medical appointment. Supporting statement from your first choice proposed supervisor in the UK university hospital, submitted directly to the CSC.
